In order to speed the surrender of Japanese forces at Ramree Town (on Ramree Island in the Arakan region of Burma) Royal Indian Navy (RIN) landing craft set out to carry troops up rivers which approach the town from three sides.

The Battle of Ramree island was thought from 14th January to 22nd February 1945. The following are a collection of photos from the invasion and Allied occupation of the island and the neighbouring island of Cheduba.
